Above, Brian “Curls” Pascal training out of The Garage days of The Underground Strength Gym.
He would wake up and eat 8 eggs, 4 whites and 4 yolks. He would also have a bowl of oatmeal AND a protein shake! That was his breakfast 7 days a week, not just on weekends.
At school, he would have a protein shake before lunch. At lunch he would eat 2 turkey sandwiches pus 2 pieces of fruit.
After school through the afternoon, evening and night, he had dinner left overs, dinner and again dinner left overs. Foods like steak, chicken, rice, pasta, salad, potatoes, etc.
Here is a critical Video for our Edison & Manasquan athletes regarding nutrition.
Most athletes are being straight up LAZY and will starve instead of getting up and heating up their food or making themselves a turkey sandwich. That attitude will obviously get you nowhere and I am confused by such apathy but I guess this is “The Human Food Chain”.
You choose to be Predator or Prey.
For those who want to WIN, don’t talk about, BE about it.
This Video explains critical nutrition tips and a Winning attitude!
It is likely that come September we will open up an in season program with a 1 x week training option and a Sunday morning workout.
Training 1 x week in season is 100% MORE than Zero. This adds up BIG time.
If you stop training at The Underground, by the end of your season, you are at your weakest, your slowest, least confident and least prepared for the MOST important time of year: play offs, sectionals, etc.
Why STOP the very thing that gives you the edge?
“Too Busy” is what the NON successful say. We ALL have time for what is MOST important.
For the In Season Workouts……
Only current members can do this, though.
If you already quit, it’s too late.
The registration will open up in late August and will run in 3 month blocks:
Sep. 1st – Nov. 30th
I don’t want to have athletes here who bail out at the first sign of a busy schedule.
The desire to Spartan UP during tough times is what I want to see in you.
And, being “too busy” is not the case.
We all make time for what is important.
I know MANY hate me for being tough, BUT, I would hate myself for allowing others to make excuses when they are capable of achieving more.
I will always be OK w/ being hated for pushing people to be successful.
I don’t want to be LIKED b/c I allowed people to make excuses.
Above, The FIRST EVER Underground Strength Gym Fishing Derby, July 19, 2015 at MACS Pond in Manasquan, NJ!
What an AWESOME time we had at The FIRST EVER Underground Strength Gym Fishing Derby at MACS pond In Manasquan.
As usual, Howell brought the heat and showed the most dedication! Some of our own Manasquan athletes did not show up due to the distance.
We had 3 trophies and I was NOT prepared for the idea that there MIGHT be a tie!
The Categories for the 3 trophies:
– The BIG Kahuna for the Biggest catch of the day
– The Fishing Boss for the most fish caught
– The Best Buddy Award (for my son!)
Jimmy Romernator of Howell pulled in his 6th fish of the day on the buzzer! fear not, I ordered another trophy to ensure all is fair in what could have been the most intense fishing derby in the history of Manasquan and perhaps NJ.
GREAT for our athletes at The Manasquan & Edison Underground Strength Gym.
During the teenage years, the athletes are primed and ready for putting on lean muscle, getting stronger, faster, more explosive and tougher.
This is what I call the window of opportunity and I explain it often to the parents and athletes in Manasquan and Edison.
As you get older, more and more opportunity slips away.
So, when I ask our athletes about their breakfast, their lunch, etc – I am constantly shocked with how many use the same excuses:
“I was running late….”
“I was so busy today….”
” I had to work today….”
Everyone is busy.
Everyone works…. Well, OK, NOT everyone…..
But if you want to become a CHAMPION, then do the things that your competition makes excuses about doing. Don’t fall into their same path of excuses, skipping meals, not eating enough, not eating healthy, not doing extra workouts on your own, etc.
To All our Manasquan & Edison Athletes:
– You received a welcome packet when you signed up. Follow the nutrition guidelines in there AND the extra Bodyweight guidelines in the welcome packet.
– If a Coach gives you specific homework pertaining to nutrition, sleep, lifestyle, flexibility, mobility, etc – well, FOLLOW THROUGH! Do the Work!

From The Manasquan Underground Strength Gym to The Edison Underground Strength Gym and around the world, this message is a hard hitting message.
Certainly, many will get offended by this or have excuses but I prefer to make things happen then to make excuses. Mindset IS key.
This story goes back to my early days of running The Underground Strength Gym when I ran into the parent of a highly recruited Baseball player who lost his scholarships due to 1 of the most the common excuses out there.
I explain in this Video which reminds as a parent to NOT be “that guy”….
