5 Underground wrestlers qualified for this weekend’s state wrestling tournament in Atlantic City.
No small feat, as there are literally thousands of wrestlers in NJ, and hundreds on each weight class, so qualifying for the states makes you One Bad Dude!
Here are the Beasts who placed in their Region to qualify for states:
Mikey Bandiero of Edison, 1st Place
Brendan Vercammen of South Brunswick, 1st Place
Russell Benner of Roselle Park, 2nd Place
Steve Zafrani of Old Bridge, 3rd Place
Derek DelaCruz of Bishop Ahr, 3rd Place
I’m beyond proud of these beasts!
Coming in close finishes were Christian Barber of Westfield and David Bergida who as a freshman, finished his season with a record of 28 – 9, not bad for only a freshman.
We still have work to do though, as several of our wrestlers will be training for the Junior Nationals.
More to come!
If you’re in Atlantic City next weekend and you see me, please come up and say Hi!
Kill it!
