Here is the e mail Chris Lee sent me after finishing his final week of training before heading to Pa to play College Baseball:
It’s Chris ” the meathead” Lee.
I can’t believe it’s already time to say goodbye but it is.
I leave Sunday, the 25th of August.
2 years have gone by way too fast.
I remember coming in for the free trial and seeing how elite everyone else was at all the lifts and how EXPLOSIVE they were. Made me feel like a bitch haha.
Through all that training, I went from 32% body fat, to 12 %.
Baseball wise I went from a 7.2 sec 60 yard dash to a 6.7.
I went from not even close to hitting a homerun to hitting 3 in one game.
My arm strength went from 72 mph to 82 mph.
All these changes couldn’t have been done without you nor the underground coaches and I thank you all.
There is so much more to say but i don’t want to get too sappy.
Keep motivating others as much as you motivated me. You’re integrity and passion really does rub off on others.
From The Meathead,
P.S. – In both pics I’m at 178 lbs. left side im at 32 % body fat in 2011. Right side I’m at 12% body fat
Chris has been by far one of THE MOST dedicated, hard working athletes we’ve ever worked with. Even during the In Season, when the majority of athetes STOP training, Chris trained 2 x week! He would show up even if he had 20 minutes to train.
He was breaking school records for JP Stevens Baseball and his dedication, hard work and mental toughness have payed off BIG time as he is now off to play College Baseball!
Here are some videos of Chris in training. You might look at them and say to yourself, “WOW! I could never do that!” This is the WRONG attitude.
As you can see, Chris did NOT start here as a strong athlete, he worked his ass off and BUILT himself into an outstanding athlete. He followed our nutrition guidelines and went above and beyond.
That is HOW champions are built!
If you are ready to become a Champion you need to be committed, humble and coachable.
Starting with a negative attitude or excuses will never help.
Step up and GO for it! You CAN become a Champion if you have the commitment of Chris “The Meathead” Lee!

Time for Football Coaches to drop their egos and TRULY start caring for these kids and doing what is in the best interest of the kids. Threatening these Football Players who have worked so hard to get ahead and now to threaten them with the BS of “You need to show your face in the weight room Monday – Saturday or you’re not gonna play” is bull shyt.
When you TRULY care for the success of these kids AND your team, you will drop your ego. Parents need to step up and stop letting their kids get pushed into a crappy strength & conditioning program.
What Are The BIG 3 Mistakes Parents Make When Choosing
A Strength Coach For Their Child?
Lehigh Wrestlers Training In 100 Degree Plus Temps, Mid Summer With A 140 Mile Round Trip! THAT Is Commitment!
Through the many years of working with athletes and seeing the explosion of strength coaches around the country I have noticed some common themes that seem to confuse parents and ultimately hurt their child’s success.
As a parent myself, the phrase “time goes too fast” is severely underrated and the window of opportunity that athletes have to achieve success is small.
These common mistakes that parents make have happened (and continues to happen) at all levels of sports, from youth, to high school to the collegiate level.
Pay attention to these critical mistakes and avoid them to give your child the best opportunity to maximize his / her success.
1) What is The Coach’s Track Record for Success?
Before you commit to signing your child up for training with a Coach, or perhaps there is a Coach at the high school your child goes to, you want to find out what this Coach’s track record for success is.
Many Coaches get hired in schools or in facilities because not so much in part due to their knowledge, but often times out of convenience. As a former public school teacher I have seen some dangerous stuff happening inside high school weight rooms that were run by the sports coach or the math teacher.
Yes, it’s great to bring a teacher or coach in who works in the schools but what’s best for the kids is a safe program, one that has been proven to be effective with a Coach who has a track record of building stronger, faster and more powerful athletes.
As a Coach and Parent, I would ask myself why these kids weren’t getting the training they deserved? People told me I “cared too much”.
I had no clue there was such a thing as caring too much. I don’t see any other way to work with athletes.
Other times I noticed schools hiring a former college athlete to run the weight room, assuming that college sports experience is the same as being a highly qualified performance coach.
The mistake here is assuming that a high level athlete is also a high level coach.
Many high level athletes are NOT high level coaches. Being a competitive athlete and a successful coach requires different levels of experience and knowledge.
Some successful athletes who become coaches don’t understand how a less gifted athlete needs to work physically or mentally to get to that next level. They’ve never been in those shoes.
I have seen Olympic Gold medalists with absolutely NO knowledge of strength & conditioning as well as national champs who could not command attention and run a great practice.
Ask the Coach for his track record of success and then ask yourself the next question:
1) Does your Coach have a long term, proven track record for creating success working with athletes?
2) Are you choosing a Coach based on them being closer to home, conveniently located in the school and / or cheaper priced?
Not all, but many high school strength & conditioning coaches fill the position because a favor is being handed to them OR they work in the school district and it’s cheaper to pay them a little extra to open the doors to the weight room.
In experienced coaches have a tendency to place every single athlete on a cookie cutter program, never addressing individual weak areas, injuries, knowledge of building a solid foundation or remotely knowing anything about safety and technique.
There is a reason a Coach is cheap, just like there is a reason cars, clothing and certain restaurants are cheap.
Excellence is rarely conveniently found around the corner and cheaper.
Excellence takes work and your child deserves excellence.
A powerful strength & conditioning program will address your child’s individual level of overall fitness & physical preparedness, the program will address weak areas, imbalances, injuries and most of all, the program will address your child’s level of mental / emotional readiness.
When you see athletes training at The Underground Strength Gym you’ll notice that they are all on a different program, each program tailored to that athlete’s specific sport, his / her weak areas and emotional needs. Training an athletes goes FAR beyond getting faster, more explosive and stronger.
As a parent myself, I don’t look for the cheapest coaches and what is 5 minutes away, I look for the best for my kids.
Congrats to these athletes and BIG thank YOU to these awesome parents 🙂
We seriously love you. How much we care about your kids is impossible to put into words!!
Zach just thought you would like I know that Tyler was given the Group Leader distinction for next year at His school. It means he is in charge of 18-22 fellow students throughout the year! Nice honor! He was also recently chosen as a Team captain for the St Benedicts Prep wrestling team.
This is usually reserved for seniors but the coach is very impressed Tyler’s leadership and dedication and elected him regardless of his Junior status. Yes I’m a proud father 🙂
Hi Zach, It has been 2 months since Jake has started at the Underground and in that Short period of time I have seen growth in him in so many ways.
His confidence has soared, he has become physically stronger, his mental attitude is positive and most importantly, his dedication, commitment and motivation has been taken to a new level.
I am so proud of Jake’s hard work. I am so happy we are at the Underground.
He is happy to be with the Underground Team.
Thank you to everyone at the Underground for helping Jake to set goals and go after them.
Thank you for teaching him about integrity, commitment, honesty and hard work.
These traits are important to us as parents and it means a lot to have a coach who believes in those same values. Physical strength is important but you need inner strength to get there.
Thank you for teaching Jake about both.
Supportive Parents & Motivated Athletes. We’re HERE, Ready To Help You Achieve Your Goals & To Become Stronger & More Successful In Sports AND Life
Athletes and their parents who understand success know that you must attack your goals quickly.
NOW is always better than tomorrow.
Waiting until Monday, next week, after summer, the new year, when school is over, when the season ends, etc has NO urgency and in turn puts you in the world of average.
NO urgency to achieve BIG success leaves you in the same boat as 97% of all other athletes who are content with where they are right now.
Decide if you are content with being like everyone else or if you want to be the few who take their achievements in life to the next level. Once you decide, follow up with MASSIVE action!
Ray Jaz describes WHY he stays after for EXTRA Credit Workouts!
Strangely and oddly enough, MANY athletes, parents and even Coaches are perfectly happy when having a poor success record. I see year after year, Coaches with losing records NOT doing anything differently.
I see year after year, athlete’s who regularly lose in their chosen sport NOT care about doing something different to start WINNING.
I see parents perfectly content as well – they see their child losing time and again and brush it off with a poor excuse.
I get fired UP when I see teams losing over and over and No ONE is stepping up to make a change.
THAT is a BIG reason as to why I coach athletes – I WANT to see them success, BUT, my desire to see others succeed is often times MORE than what the Coaches, Parents & Athletes themselves want.
Obviously, if that is you, training at The Underground is NOT for you.
Highly motivated athletes and parents only – otherwise, you will think I am crazy.
Then again, most successful, highly motivated people are viewed as crazy by average people.
BIG news and BIG thanks to the parents who helped us with your success stories and feedback!
Thank YOU BIG time!!
BIG congrats to Team Underground Wrestlers, Jake Daniel & Mikey Klimkiewicz.
BOTH have been named Co Captains for next season & Mike is ONLY a sophomore!!
